Once again, we come to the end of an amazing year. If you visited Corolla and the Currituck Beaches in 2023, we hope you enjoyed yourself as much as we enjoyed having you here. If you are thinking about seeing us in the New Year, we can’t wait to welcome you! Bookings are open for our beautiful vacation rentals, and now is a great time to reserve your dream beach getaway.
As we wait for 2024 to begin, we’d like to reflect upon what we enjoyed most about this past year. Aside from the breathtaking views of the ocean, the excitement of our annual Bulls & BBQ event, and the many weddings and reunions celebrated here, we were fortunate enough to enjoy a number of firsts:
New Attractions
Historic Corolla is the home of a new children’s playground! This new outdoor facility features customized play equipment inspired by the adventure and natural beauty of Currituck County. Bring your kids over to play on the swings, the tunnel slide, and the huge wild goose structure.
New Businesses
Lodging options expanded this year with the opening of The Wild Horse Inn, in the heart of Corolla. Also, the county’s wine, beer, and spirits trail added a few new stops, including Blue 42’s Brewing Barn in Moyock, Buffalo City Distillery in Point Harbor, and the Wild Goose Wine Bar and Whalehead Brewery in Corolla. This summer, The Event Boutique brought a touch of sparkle to Historic Corolla Village with their shop of beautiful home decor and gifts.
On the mainland, visitors to Currituck can now stop at Dunkin Donuts in Moyock or Royal Farms in Grandy for snacks before coming into Corolla.
New Holiday Event
This holiday season, we were thrilled to introduce a new holiday event to Corolla, our synthetic ice-skating rink, known as Glice. It is a hit, and we have had over 1200 happy skaters in just the first three weekends. We have found, too, that many families enjoy renting a beach home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Corolla is a top choice for destination holidays, where extended families can gather and celebrate.
New Friends
A visit to Corolla isn’t complete without a Wild Horse tour. This year, the herd welcomed a number of new foals. When you next visit us, you just may see some of the next generation playing in the dunes.
