If you run or ride, you have to come to the Currituck Outer Banks. No matter the time of year, be it the peak of summer or the cool and comfortable shoulder seasons, the shores of Corolla provide beautiful scenery for any adventure. You’ll find many opportunities for beach and road cycling, and running in quiet, natural areas as well as part of the races scheduled throughout the year.
The one constant you will enjoy about running or cycling in Currituck is the lay of the land…which is flat everywhere you go. There are no steep climbs or challenging terrains — though some parts of the 4×4 beaches have soft sand that might slow you down, but it’s still navigable. If you’re looking to spend a relaxing vacation filled with leisurely jogs and bike rides in the sun, this is the place.
One way to keep up with upcoming running and cycling events in the area is to follow our new Facebook page: Currituck OBX Events. Festivals, concerts, tours, and anything happening at the beach, Knotts Island, or the mainland are updated regularly. Keep an eye out, too, for these and other run/bike events:
